10 Boomer Opinions That Even Cranky Millennials Agree With – Surprising, Right?

Boomers don’t hold back in their opinions; if you ever want to know something, you can be sure you’ll get the truth from them. However, they have a terrible reputation within the mainstream culture, even if it’s hard for Gen Zers and millennials to admit that boomers are right about many things. An online forum brought people of all ages to the forefront to discuss opinions, and the answers might surprise you.

Stop Overdoing Youth Sports

Many users agreed that parents who sign their children up to too many sports leagues are overcompensating. One person said, “Having your children in every sports league and traveling all over spending loads of money and time doesn’t make you a better parent.” We agree. However, if the child wants to do all sports, it’s not our place to judge.

People Are Too Loud

People are too loud. Everywhere you go now, even if it’s a quiet place like a library, it’s louder than ever. People chat away, whether with another person or on their cellphones. Music is played at all hours, regardless of rules. You can even hear music through headphones; people think that broadcasting their entire lives on social media is a great way forward. Boomers are bang on point here.

Let Me Own Things

Because online streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video are on the rise, owning a DVD or CD is impossible. Boomers like to have things, and even though you’re paying for the subscription service, you don’t have a physical copy, which means you don’t own it. This disappoints Boomers because it takes away the pride of owning a copy of something.

Physical Buttons Are the Best

Cars are gradually becoming more technologically advanced, so the physical buttons are going out of the window. When driving an automobile, nothing is more satisfying than being able to press buttons, sliders, or knobs. Having the physical controls means you don’t have to take your eyes off the road when adjusting music or heating.

A Watch Should Be a Watch

According to boomers, over 216 million people use smartwatches worldwide, and this is way too many people. They don’t like that a watch is no longer a watch and has all of the fancy widgets that come with it. There was once a time when a look was only used for telling the time, as it is supposed to, but now you can text, call, and track your activity levels. Boomers aren’t big fans of technology improving.

Paper Menus, Not QR Code Menus

The pandemic changed many things for many people, and eating out was one of them. However, we can all agree that paper menus are much better than scanning a QR code to get your food menu. Paper menus should always stay the same, and going out to eat with your friends or family should be a time for you all to communicate and socialize, not spend more time than necessary on your phones.

Connected Appliances are Stupid

As 2024 is just around the corner, we’ve seen a massive technological improvement over the years. Everything has turned “smart,” including simple appliances around the house. One baby boomer said, “Why would I want a toaster that can connect to the internet? So I can connect my Facebook account and let everyone know my preferred toast setting is “slightly closer to three than two, but still not in between those two? Smart appliances are dumb!”

Automated Customer Service is the Worst

We can all agree on this. When we call a company with a complaint or an inquiry, we all want to be able to speak to an actual human being. However, this seems impossible as there is a rise in automated customer services. Once we ring a company and go through the automated service, if we’re lucky enough to speak to a human, it takes us typing a lot of different numbers or saying exactly what we need, and most of the time, the automated service takes a few tries to understand what we’re saying.

Headlights Are Too Bright Nowadays

One person on the forum said, “Is my dad frequenting the thread that inspired this post? Wow, that’s such a “my dad” thing to say. But I have to admit, he’s not wrong. LED headlights in newer cars and trucks are entirely too bright, and I would love not to be blinded for three seconds every time I drive past a Ford Z-150 Raptor big Boy Look-At-Me Truck.”

Stop Recording Fireworks

Believe it or not, one boomer strongly opposed people who film fireworks displays with their phones, saying, “The worst are the people who record things like fireworks. You’re missing the moment and will never look at the video again.” We somewhat agree with this and believe that people should spend more time living in the moment rather than on their phones.
