There is a saying that goes, “You are as young as you feel,” which tells people that age should not be a restriction in life. However, there are certain things that some people should stop doing as they get older, as we see from this list.
Arguing
As we age, we conclude that arguing is a complete waste of time. We get annoyed occasionally, but long, drawn-out spats that last for weeks are not worth it. If you love the person you are arguing with, talk with them; if you don’t, they are not worth your time.
Gossiping
Gossiping is for teenagers in high school and young parents at the school playground. As we age, we leave the gossip behind and respect people for who they are, even if we don’t like them.
Drama
Like gossip, drama should not be a part of growing old. Some people never mature, but when they cause drama, they look very cringe-worthy.
Anything Past 9pm
Once upon a time, our nights would begin at nine p.m. when we started to drink before hitting a club. These days, we have our last cup of chamomile tea in bed before turning out the lights before 9 p.m.
Standing at Concerts
Of course, older people can enjoy going to concerts, but they insist on booking a seated ticket rather than a standing ticket. The days of lining up to get to the front of the stage are long gone, as our legs need to rest after 30 minutes.
Hangovers
Hangovers and old age do not go hand in hand. The days of drinking heavily into the night and waking up full of energy the next day are gone by the time we reach 40. As soon as we start to have children, drinking and getting up early goes out of the window.
Drinking Too Much
Drinking too much alcohol, in general, is not an activity we should do when we get older. Our bodies can no longer take the impact of alcohol, as we have read above. In addition, we are far more aware of the health impacts of drinking alcohol, such as some types of cancer and heart disease.
Wasted Calories
We could eat most things when we were younger without the worry of putting on weight or feeling sick afterward. As we age, maintaining our weight is more challenging, so any wasted calories are just not worth it. When we say wasted calories, we mean eating food that doesn’t taste good.
Partying
Since hangovers are out of the question when we age, so is partying. Partying when we are old means a couple of beers and a bedtime at 11 p.m. Anything at midnight when we are older means a day on the sofa the next day.
Anime and Superhero Movies
Life is too short to repeatedly watch the same old superhero movie or anime show. Our taste changes as we age, and some things get left behind.
Caring for Uncaring People
We often put a lot of energy into caring for people who do not give us a lot back. As we age, we begin to let go of the people who do not care for us like we do, and our lives are better.
Playing Dumb
We do many dumb things when we are young and often wonder how we got away with it. Now that we know the consequences of playing games, we are much more careful in our actions.
Smoking Cigarettes
The dangers of smoking cigarettes are well known, which means smoking is a thing of the past for most people. There are still some people who are severely addicted to cigarettes who still smoke, but the most sensible people leave it in their history.
Lack of Sleep
They pull an all-nighter, whether partying, reading late into the night, or watching TV until the early hours is no longer sustainable as we age. Older people need their beauty sleep more than ever, and nothing gets in the way of an early night.
Sitting on The Floor
Sitting on the floor as we age is usually a problem once we try to get up. The aches from sitting on the bottom are too hard to face, so most older adults won’t even try.
Making Excuses
As we age, we realize that convoluted lies do not work for anyone, so making excuses is a thing of the past. Being open and honest is the only way forward.
Holding Grudges
Older people realize that life is too short for holding grudges, and if you want someone in your life, then you should tell them so. Some people remain stubborn in old age, but many more learn to let go of their hatred to enjoy their remaining years in peace.
Stilettos
Older women understand the need to keep their feet comfortable at all times. Gone are the days of Stilettos, as no woman will endure high heels when she no longer needs to if she ever did need to.
