Boomer Brilliance: 18 Timeless Truths That Leave Even Millennials Speechless!

It’s not always easy admitting when we get things wrong, but there are some truths that Boomers have been telling Millennials for years, and even the most socially aware Millennials can agree with them.

We Are Too Reliant on Technology

Boomers can’t stop complaining about how younger generations are addicted to technology, and they might be onto something. Yes, we do need to rely on technology in some parts of our lives, but endless scrolling on social media and our gaming addiction is preventing us from getting outdoors and making real connections with people.

Cars Can Be Too Distracting

Boomers aren’t happy with touchscreens in cars, as they believe they are distracting, and they’re probably correct. Tactile buttons and dials can help us connect better with our vehicles, leading to more focus and safer driving.

Not Everything Needs to Be Recorded

Millennials love recording everything, whether with video cameras or smartphones, but Boomers urge us to be present and enjoy the moment. By watching a concert on your phone, Boomers say you’re missing out on the true experience, and we think they’re right.

It Is Important to Be on Time

When you commit to being somewhere at a particular time, you should honor your intentions. Boomers were raised to be respectful and punctual, and they’re calling on Millennials to pay better attention to their timekeeping.

We Rely on Online Purchases Too Much

Online life is convenient, there’s little doubt about that, but Boomers suggest that Millennials are far too reliant on making online purchases and need to return to face-to-face shopping. While shopping online is more accessible, trying something on before buying it when it fits is much simpler than dealing with returns.

Voice Recognition is Confusing

Millennials love the convenience of using Alexa and Siri, but Boomers find them more trouble than they’re worth. While getting information without moving is excellent, sometimes traditional communication and looking things up in a book are more satisfying than arguing with technology.

Handwritten Notes are Charming

Emails are very convenient and much faster than sending physical mail, but they’re nowhere near as romantic. Boomers cherish sending letters and postcards to their friends and family, and more Millennials need to embrace this.

Hyperboles are Overrated

Millennials love hyperbole, labeling everything as epic or unforgettable. Boomers are concerned that with such extraordinary labels for every little action, Millennials aren’t genuinely appreciating the significant experiences in life.

Buzzwords are Annoying

Millennials have a habit of using lots of buzzwords to sound cool and trendy. This might impress younger generations, but for Boomers, it’s just plain confusing. Returning to simple, straightforward language could reduce confusion when talking to Millennials.

QR Codes are Confusing

Another thing that confuses Boomers is QR codes. They’re everywhere, from return labels to restaurant menus, but they’re not straightforward for Boomers to use. A physical menu or piece of paper is much easier for them to understand, and many other generations would agree.

People Have Forgotten How to Drive

Boomers often complain about bad drivers, and they might be right. There seem to be so many people cutting others off, speeding, and ignoring road signs everywhere.

Sexuality Is Overly Complicated

While Boomers embrace diversity, they believe that labels like “sapiosexual” have gone too far. Sometimes Millennials overcomplicate things when they could simply say, “I’m attracted to intelligent people,” for example.

Experiences Are Worth More Than Possessions

As previously mentioned, regarding Millennials recording too much, Boomers encourage people not to miss out on experiences. While Boomers focus on making memories, Millennials are preoccupied with material possessions, which shouldn’t be the case.

Quality Beats Quantity When It Comes to Friends

Having a long list of friends and being a social butterfly isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, as many Boomers have learned through experience. Boomers want people to understand that when it comes to friends, less is more, as the quality of a friendship matters more than impressing others with popularity.

Relationship History is Important

Boomers believe that knowing about your partner’s past is a good way to ensure a healthy relationship. Millennials often take a “here and now” approach, but they might admit that knowing about their partner’s past could help them navigate issues that arise in their relationship.

Gatekeeping is Important

While gatekeeping is frowned upon by Millennials, Boomers feel it’s necessary and important for truly understanding something. Experts exist for a reason, and Millennials need to accept this.

Being Mindful About Mental Health is Important

Millennials have led the way in raising awareness about good mental health and getting people to talk about their feelings. However, Boomers are more cautious and worry that people are being over-diagnosed. By attributing every feeling to mental health struggles, people might be minimizing the importance of certain mental health conditions.

Body Positivity is not Always Positive.

The Body Positivity Movement has been a refreshing change from the scrutiny and attacks people face over their appearances. While Millennials embrace a more positive outlook on different body shapes and sizes, Boomers worry that attention is being diverted from the importance of being healthy.
