There are many theories about why Donald Trump’s skin appears orange. Some of the most common theories include:
He Uses a Self-Tanner
Self-tanners and bronzers are products applied to the skin to give it a darker color. They can be found in a variety of shades, including orange. This is the most likely explanation, as some online commentators have mentioned, with one saying, “Spray-tan. It keeps him from looking as liver-spotted and pallid as he otherwise would, with a much lower chance of skin cancer.”
He Has Rosacea
Rosacea is a skin condition that can cause redness and flushing. In some cases, rosacea can also cause the skin to appear orange. Trump has never claimed to have this condition, it is the media that have speculated.
He Has Jaundice
Jaundice is a condition that causes the skin to turn yellow. A buildup of bilirubin, a yellow pigment, in the blood causes it. However, jaundice is not typically associated with orange skin. It is usually a short-term condition too, which would not match up with how often Trump looks orange.
He Has a Rare Skin Condition
There is some speculation that Trump has a skin condition called erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP). EPP is a genetic condition that causes skin sensitivity to sunlight. People with EPP often have orange skin, especially on their faces and hands.
He Is Wearing Make-up
This is a less likely explanation, as Trump has denied wearing makeup. However, he may use a bronzer or foundation to improve his skin tone. Most people in the TV industry or those getting interviewed on TV will generally wear some make-up to consider the lighting that creates a shine.
He Vacations A Lot
Some people think that Trump likes to go on vacation, which explains why he has a deep tan. Of course, we know that Trump loves to play golf, so all that time out on the range is bound to change his face color, but whether it makes him orange is unknown.
It is His Natural Pigment
There are lots of Trump fans who get annoyed about the speculation about his skin color. Those who like to deflect attention from Trump’s skin tone say that being orange is due to his natural skin pigmentation. Several pigmentation disorders can cause the skin to appear darker, including vitiligo.
Genetics
Some people are born with naturally orange skin. This is more common in people of Asian or Native American descent. This may rule out genetics being the source of Donald Trump’s orangeness.
It is the White House Lighting
In 2019, Trump claimed that he looked orange because of energy-efficient lightbulbs. He said that these lightbulbs “make me look orange” and that he would “love to get rid of them.” However, there is no scientific evidence to support this claim.
Photography Lighting
The lighting in which someone is photographed can affect how their skin looks. For example, fluorescent lighting can make skin appear more yellow, while incandescent lighting can make it appear more orange.
People Have Manipulated Photographs
Some people say that Trump is not really orange but that people have photoshopped images of him to make him appear more orange to poke fun at him.
He Uses a Sun Bed
In addition to getting a lot of sun when golfing or on vacation, some people believe that Trump uses a tanning bed. We don’t think he would ever publicly attend a tanning salon, but he has more than enough money to have one in each of his homes.
He is On medication
Some medications, such as beta-blockers and antimalarial drugs, can cause the skin to appear orange.
His Diet
Eating a diet high in beta-carotene, a pigment found in carrots, sweet potatoes, and other orange-colored fruits and vegetables, can also cause the skin to appear orange. People speculate that Donald Trump does not have the best diet, but there is doubt whether his diet would make him orange.
His Age
Some people speculated online that he looks the way he does because of his age, with one saying,”Considering his age… maybe that’s what he should look like”. While this may be true, we have not seen a lot of people his age with the same skin color.
He Has Been Tanning With Radioactive Materials
Some people take the humorous approach and say that rather than using an average tanning booth, Trump has been tanning using radioactive materials!
He is a Cheeto
Many people like to have fun with how orange Donald Trump is and say he is a human Cheeto. This claim is enough to put us off our favorite corn snack!
It is also possible that the combination of these factors is causing Trump’s skin to appear orange. Ultimately, the only person who knows why Trump’s skin is orange is Trump.
