Mentioning Their Exes
This applies to both men and women. None of us like hearing about our current partner’s exes or even being on a date with a potential partner. We don’t want to hear about it because it makes our stomachs turn. Talking about exes is banned on dates and in relationships because it can cause discomfort. One man said they hated when women “refuse to shut up about their ex on a first date.”
Being Rude
Men can’t stand rude women. One man said he wouldn’t be attracted to a woman if she was “rude to my friends and loved ones for no reason.” Another user stated, “unattractive when both men and women do it.” This is true. Nobody likes when someone is rude. It makes us feel uncomfortable, and being rude is uncalled for.
Not Looking After the Children
One man said that he finds it utterly unattractive to see that a woman neglects her child and doesn’t look after them properly. We know neglect is worrying; some pointed out that the father must also look after the child. Another man stated, “Both parents should be equally involved,” and pointed out the sexism in the comment. We understand that both parents should share equal responsibility; if a woman isn’t paying much attention to their child in their care, we see how that could turn a man away.
Lying
One man said about his girlfriend, “I recently found out that she lies about a lot of small details. It makes me wonder how much more she’s been lying to me about.” We can all agree that finding out that someone has been lying, whether small or big, can make us doubt other things in the relationship. Trust is a massive part of the relationship; if that’s broken, then there isn’t much of a foundation to build on, and it can be challenging for the couple to remain together.
Fakeness
If a woman is being a bit fake, whether in the house or at social events, it can be difficult for a man to navigate around them. It is also a huge turn-off for a man if a woman appears fake. One man said, “If I see you being unpleasant, II know your dark side. If you fake being nice, I don’t know what you’re hiding; it’s scary.” This is true. How will a man ever know your proper side if you’re constantly being fake?
Too Much Gossip
Some men enjoy the womanly gossip because men don’t tend to do it when they’re together in their groups. However, there is a line between gossip and just being too bitchy. One response said, “It’s not black and white, of course, but excessively gossiping about people or being genuinely mean about people behind their backs is a major turn-off for me.” It’s something to look out for when dating.
Uneducated
This might not be something a woman can help, especially if they had a bit of a neglected past. However, nothing stops an adult from learning, so being uneducated can be a negative point for a man. A man said that one of his biggest turn-offs is for women to be “intellectually non-curious. I’m attracted to smarty pantsers.” We know that not everyone can have a Ph.D. or have excellent jobs, but having a bit of wit about you is what men like.
Cheating
We think this applies to men and women. Being a cheat is a horrible offense in a relationship, and when you’re dating and find out that the person you’re on a date with has cheated, it should be enough to make you run a mile. It is a bad thing to do, and one person made it very clear by saying, “Every other bad thing I’ve read so far can depend on context, but this one is just a nail in the coffin regardless of any reason.”
Karen Stereotypes
One online man said the typical ‘Karen’ stereotype is unattractive. They further explained by saying, “I don’t want to be in that relationship. It would be annoying, embarrassing, and lead to a toxic relationship.” We have no idea where the ‘Karen’ stereotype came from, and we’re sure there are some lovely Karens, but we couldn’t agree more. Nobody wants to be stuck in a toxic relationship.
Unreciprocated Demands
Nothing is worse than an adult man being told what to do by a woman. We know there is a healthy asking in relationships, but when a woman asks a man not to talk to certain people or check their social media, this can be a huge negative. One man said, “You’re not allowed to talk to another girl on social media.” If a woman says this, then it should be the end of a relationship.
Stringing People Along
One gentleman stated that he has had enough of women stringing him along, and he explained, “I recently cut ties with a woman I had a lot of compatibility with because I noticed she was stringing multiple guys along for attention.” There is a point in a woman’s life where we think that stringing men along is a turn-on, but it isn’t.
Fake Fingernails
We know some women get their nails done to make themselves feel better. A bit of self-care doesn’t harm anyone, right? Well, one man said, “Yep, when she’s got the ‘pornstar nails,’ it’s a complete turn-off for me.” We think that keeping them neat isn’t a problem; it’s the length that causes men’s noses to turn.
Playing Mind Games
It’s much better to begin how you mean to go on and be upfront and straight about everything. This way, you know the person you could ultimately have a potential relationship with. One man said, “Yea, I hate tests. I’ll purposely fail them so that I can prove my point that I’m not chasing you. I’m perfectly okay with chilling with my cat all day.”
Lack of Empathy
We’re all encouraging men to speak up, be more emotional, that it’s okay to be vulnerable and open up. However, when they do, some women lack empathy towards them. A man said, “This, this aaaaaaaaaand this!” He was talking about the exasperated efforts of dating women who are uncaring and selfish.
Eating with their mouth open
This is many people’s turn-off. The need for manners when eating with your mouth open is extensive. Having these manners doesn’t take a lot, and one man said, “Chewing with your mouth open is nasty. My mother always said it makes you look like a cow.” It might be going too far with this comment, but he’s not far off. It’s cringe-worthy watching and listening to someone chew.
