We know laziness ultimately dampens any motivation or productivity that we might have, which can eventually downpour our social and personal lives. However, there are times when laziness can lead to ingenuity. This might be hard for you to wrap your head around, but it’s true. We have compiled a list of “lazy habits” that will make you see laziness in a new light.

The Online Manual

When we learn something new, we tend to share the knowledge with others verbally, and we don’t think of any other way of doing it. However, one person decided that the best way forward was to document everything they knew in writing and created their own DIY online manual with all of the information. It is an easy-to-follow manual, and whenever the person was asked for help, they would turn to the manual and find the information required to answer the question. Lazy? Maybe. Innovative? Definitely.

Box-And-Slide

It was a stock boy who thought of this incredible trick. He might’ve been considered lazy, but we think the idea is excellent. When it comes to something boring and mundane like unboxing, it would be better for us to follow the example of the stock boy by positioning the box onto a shelf, opening one side, and then sliding the box out. This will keep everything in place in a neat manner, using efficiency and ingenuity.

No-Hill Climbing

Nothing is worse than starting a walk up a hill and getting all worn out. There is no point in the slope at all. It does nothing for us except cause our exhaustion. One group of friends decided they wanted to make a change, so they changed the tedious climb into a walk in the park. It took them three days, but they turned a mini-mountain into a better, more pleasant path.

Buy Now, Think Later

When you’re purchasing something online, we think it is easier than going into a store and socializing. It can be pretty tedious when ordering online, but some people use the ‘one-click purchase,’ and even though this might seem like the lazy way around shopping, it solves a lot of hassle. It speeds up the shopping process and avoids wasting any time with checkouts.

Miss a Garbage Day

There are times when we forget a garbage day or we miss it for other reasons. However, some people have used their laziness and solved a problem. Write a note and tape it to the side of the trashcan the night before. It’s something simple, but it really works and takes away the chance of you missing another garbage day.

Homework Assistant

This idea might initially seem like laziness from your children, but it’s actually genius in all truthfulness. Think of the homework your child gets sent home with. We look at it now and have no idea what is happening. However, there is one AI intelligence that knows everything… Alexa! Children have been using Alexa to discuss their homework and get answers.

No More Cutlery

Working over the sink and doing the dishes can be a chore that we don’t like. However, a perfect and simple solution exists – don’t use cutlery. Eat straight from the pot. It saves so much work, and even though it seems lazy, it actually makes sense. It reduces effort, saves time, and brings a charm to being solo.

After a long day, nothing is worse than having to hang clean clothes up. Although, there is one quick fix, use a chair! Using a chair as a temporary wardrobe can save so much hassle, and it even has its own name; a “chairdrobe”. If you arrange it properly then it’s a clever way to keep your room tidy and ensure your clothes are wrinkle-free.

Goodbye Paper

It’s a common problem going to the grocery store and realizing that you’ve forgotten or lost your little shopping list. There is a good solution to this problem; you might already do it if you’re tech-savvy. Just use your phone as your grocery list. It’s a great shopping approach and completely eliminates the frustration and paper waste. You’ll never forget your phone, which means, you’ll never forget the list.

Coffee Timer

We know that waking up to fresh coffee is a feeling that will struggle to be beat. However, one horrible feeling is the fact you’ve got to get out of bed, wait for the coffee to brew, and then serve it. But, there are some clever people that will set a timer on their coffee maker the night before, so they can ensure that when they wake up, they have a freshly brewed pot.

Clocks on Time

If the clocks go forward or back and you forget to change all of them around your house, the best thing to do is to trip the main fuse, and they’ll all correct themselves. This obviously only works with digital clocks, but it saves a bit of time. It’s a smart solution even though there is a slight bit of lazy ingenuity.

Colour-Coded Keys

If you’re someone who holds a key to everyone’s house, including your own, then you’ve probably got quite a heavy set. This can become confusing when you’re looking for specific keys, because all keys look the same. However, a quick hack to stop this confusion is by colour-coding the keys. There is a hack at the moment where people use nail varnish to colour in their keys, and this helps them identify which one they need quicker.

Work Smarter, Not Harder

If you’re tech-savvy, you might like this little trick with Excel. If you learn the formulas, you can follow in the footsteps of an intern who turned his 9-to-5 job into a quick 1-hour session. It can cause less time spent on mundane tasks and also shows efficiency.

Watering the Green

If you’ve got plants in your gardens and they need watering every day, this can cause a pain in your life. However, there was a nursery labourer who thought outside of the box, and she created an automated irrigation system. It saves a lot of time and effort, and even though it might seem lazy, we think it’s a great idea.

Quick Pizza

If you don’t want to go through the online ordering system when it comes to getting your food, then why not have your favourite restaurants on speed dial? This means you don’t have to go onto the website to find the number and then call them. It’s convenient and time-saving.

Thermometer Stand-in

There is patience when taking on science experiments, and it is tough to ensure that you hold a thermometer without it touching the bottom of a container. However, a student used paper clips to build a holder for their thermostat. It works, and the teacher was very impressed.

Uniform Hangers

If you’ve got your clothes hanging up in the same direction in your wardrobe, then it’s easier for you to choose what you want to wear. It saves a lot of time. Instead of going through your whole wardrobe and struggling to find what you’re looking for, it also demonstrates excellent organization skills.
