Enough is Enough: 15 Things Every American is Sick of Hearing!

There are many things that a lot of us are fed up with hearing over and over, and it seems that most of these are misconceptions or news sources that don’t get all of the facts before they report on something. We got some fascinating answers during a recent questionnaire that asked Americans what they were fed up with hearing.

That Something Big is Going to Happen

We can all agree that we’ve heard many things coming to our landscapes during talks from presidents or third parties. However, these developments never take place, and they all become words that are brushed aside. There is a lot of broken trust between Americans and authorities, such as presidents and politicians. The people of America are always eager for certain developments to occur, and many people have the “If you’re talking about the change, make it happen now,” and this mentality follows through. However, there was a revelation in past years that urban landscapes and lifestyles would reshape. Americans are still waiting for this to happen.

Politicians Lying

Following the previous comment, too many politicians still need to follow their word. People get their hopes up just for them to get crushed. Americans have become exhausted from hearing the same lies fly out of each politician’s mouth, feeling downright worn out by it all. Whether it’s raising the retirement age or needing more funds because of an outdated budget. The weariness continues because of inflation, which has led to substantial corporate profits. However, it isn’t just Americans who feel this distrust. Still, it extends globally, and it is an experience shared with everyone, especially in a financial burden and healthcare cost kind of way.

My Car’s Extended Warranty

There is a silver lining in contrast to the situation in Canada, and this is that they have a legitimate lifetime warranty that is accompanied by 3rd party choices that are reliable. However, Canada paints an entirely different picture. The promised warranty only offers minimal coverage, which means there is an effort to secure claims, making it seem dishonest.

Donald Trump

In the middle of all the deceitful politicians is the most famous of them all: Trump! He loves the media coverage, and it was suggested that he makes so many bad decisions because he loves the aftermath. One person said, “If you want him to go away, stop reporting on him every 5 minutes. Gets them clicks and views; they’re just businessmen doing business.” Many media focus on Trump because it’s an excellent way for them to earn a profit.

That We Know Nothing About Geography

Americans express their annoyance that everyone thinks they know nothing about Geography. Even though many Americans don’t bother following anything about Geography, one highlighted, “Yeah, many people are dumb and don’t know anything, but saying the entire country is quite annoying.” Americans aren’t happy to be branded with the same brush, and it’s infuriating to think that it’s an overall group issue, not individuals.

That We’re All Overweight and Inactive

We all know that the portion sizes in America are enormous, and because of this, there is a weight issue in the US. What annoys Americans about this statement is that it is a problem worldwide, not just in the US. There are a lot of Americans who are within the correct BMI weight and spend most of their time being active. The issue with weight within America isn’t the people themselves, but the restaurants and the fact that everything is double the portion size of anywhere else.

Everything We Do is the Worst

In America, they don’t have school spaces like in England. If a school classroom becomes too full, they have pods. Pods are a trailer that leads off from the school, and when these become full, Americans build a new school. However, in England, you must apply for a school, whether accepted or not. One person said, “I was shocked when I started reading English newspapers that their kids aren’t guaranteed a spot in their local schools. I mentioned this in one of the articles, and the person I was talking to asked what we did when a school got too full. I explained the pod classrooms. It is basically like a trailer but a classroom. Then, when too many pods exist, they build a new school. Still, if you move into a neighborhood, you are guaranteed a spot in the local school.”

About How Great and How Much Better Everywhere Else Is

We know that there is a high crime rate in many states in America, but the communities all come together to support each other during times of need. There are many misconceptions about America as a whole; one person said, “Other places might have better policies in other areas, but something needs to be fixed. This isn’t from someone who has just sat around and done nothing but complain on the internet; I’ve been around the world several times and spent a few years living abroad. America isn’t perfect, but it’s better than many places.” So they understand that America might have a bad name, but if you travel to other places, you might realize that it’s a lot better.

Nobody Wants to Work Anymore

Due to America being relatively pricey and needing more wages, it makes more sense for Americans to work than it does to work. This goes for a lot of places, though, especially with inflation. Many Americans don’t want to work for no money and impolite customers. One person said, “More like nobody wants to work for bad ages only to be an emotional punching bag for rude customers.” We completely agree. Another person said, “This is exactly my situation. I make a little above minimum wage, but I have scumbag bosses that make work miserable for everyone. And I want out so badly, but the job market in my small town is horrendous.”

Your Phone when I’m on the Train

A lot of Americans need to get on the train to get to their place of work or to visit family and friends. There is a high anxiety around driving in America due to the high collision rates. However, riding on a train means hearing everything everyone else is doing, including what music others like, what TV show they’re into, and any other content. Many Americans have urged you to take your headphones onto the train if you ride one. Someone said, “Put on some headphones; I don’t want to hear your music/game/TV show or whatever else you have on there.”

Downplaying our Food

Americans like to stack their plates so high that they touch the ceiling. However, they also offer a wide range of cuisines from different cultures. One person said, “Sure, all of it might not be authentic, but we have food from pretty much every culture in the US.” The food in America is excellent, and it shouldn’t be downplayed. It’s something that annoys Americans.

That We Lack Diversity

America is full of diversity and culture, as well as different languages. Usually, there are friendship groups that only have two people who share the same cultural background, and the fact that children have sleepovers means that there is always quite a rapid introduction to various cultures. One person said, “We don’t have a distinct culture or language. It’s a melting pot. I’ve never had a friend group with more than two people with the same cultural background. You got a crash course as a kid when you spent the night at a friend’s house.”

“Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone

This great song gives a lot of people purpose and reason, and it resonates a lot. However, it has been diluted in novelty because of its presence across various settings. The song has been wholly overexposed, meaning its enjoyment has been ruined. One commenter said, “Great song. Hear it in too many places.”

Our Nonexistent Obsession with the Pledge of Allegiance

Even though it is sung in many schools, it isn’t as obsessed over as many people think. Americans pride themselves on their country and this song, but it’s often overheard, and as generations have passed, it’s become less important to sing. One person said, “Seriously, I had forgotten I used to say it in school until I happened upon it in threads asking what other countries are baffled by in America. It was so unimportant and made zero impact in my life.” The song overall holds very minimal importance to many Americans, and an exaggeration surrounds it. Another person said, “They act like it’s some legally binding agreement, and it’s the most inconsequential thing ever in elementary school.”

The Kardashians

It’s one of the most popular on the list, the Kardashians. Many of us believe Americans are obsessed with the self-proclaimed family, but it’s far from it. Many Americans can’t stand them either, and they’re fed up hearing about them. Americans are sick to death of hearing about Trump and the Kardashians and putting them both in the same light. One person said, “Every other country is just as sick and tired of hearing about Trump and the Kardashians as AmeAmericanse.”
